Equality is not an option, it's a right!

Today, across France, people marched to urge the government to take responsibility to #protect children and women, people with a vagina. The figures are alarming: - 160,000 children are victims every year of incest or sexual violence, that is 438 children per day, yes, per day! - a child is raped or sexually assaulted every 3 minutes; - 3 children per class are victims of #sexual violence; - only 3% of perpetrators of sexual violence (97% men) are convicted. The figure drops to 1% in cases of incest. (source: https://www.vie-publique.fr) - 1,283 women were victims of (attempted) femicides within the couple, direct or indirect, in 2024. - 376,000 women aged 18 and over, in 2023, were victims of physical, verbal or psychological and/or sexual violence within the couple. (source: https://arretonslesviolences.gouv.fr)) We, the #women, people with a vagina, have just as much right to feel safe as men. Inequalities are still far too great. That is why feminism has every place in our society. Amnesty International defines #feminism as "the belief that women have the right to political, economic and social equality. Feminism works to ensure that women can fully enjoy their rights, on an equal footing with men." This is not about wanting to take power, to dominate men; it is about having the same rights so that we can truly live in harmony and as equals. Each of our voices, each of our daily actions in that direction as women, people with a vagina, matters in moving things forward. And you, what do you do every day to dismantle these norms around you?
